MISSION STATEMENT

  • Work towards the understanding, respect, support, and appropriate education for all children with special needs in our community;

 

  • Promote and support an innovative educational environment where children with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities and a school and community environment where all children are encouraged to reach their full potential;

 

  • Promote a network for parents of children with disabilities and provide a forum to share information and discuss matters of relative interest and concern regarding our children;

 

  • Promote communication and programs within the community to encourage understanding, respect, acceptance and inclusion of children with disabilities;

 

  • Collaborate with the school community to continually improve the educational opportunities available within and without our schools that promote improved educational outcomes for children with disabilities.

GOALS FOR THE

2004-2005 SCHOOL YEAR

  • Introduce & implement the LINK Program or a similar model, which promotes peer relationships and promotes understanding and acceptance between typical students and their peers with special needs.

 

  • Promote National Disability Awareness Month through a display at the Auburn Public Library, on the website, and other media.

 

  • Fundraise to meet the needs of the projects above and non-associated costs from other projects.

 

  • Hold annual "Meet the Candidates" Night for all new candidates for Selectmen & School Committee seats that will open in 2005.
